What SEO product descriptions actually need

Product page SEO, explained without the hype

A PDP has to do three jobs at once: rank for the SKU-level long-tail term, win the shopping and AI Overview placement through schema, and convert the visitor who lands on it. Most copy fails one or two of those jobs. The fix is template design plus senior editing plus full schema, not more words.

Unique copy vs manufacturer text

Manufacturer descriptions are syndicated to every retailer carrying the SKU. Google sees the same text on 50 sites and chooses one canonical, usually Amazon or the brand itself. Unique copy per retailer is the only way independent ecommerce sites compete on SKU terms.
