SEMrush agency

Rated #1 SEO agency in The Netherlands by SEMrush

Most fintech SEO is written like ecommerce copy. Then compliance rejects it and nothing ships. Meanwhile the comparison sites keep the SERP.

A fintech SEO agency has to work inside two systems at once: Google's quality bar for money pages and your compliance team's rules on what a regulated firm may say. Miss the first and you rank nowhere. Miss the second and the page gets pulled the day your compliance officer sees it. LASEO is a senior-only SEO agency in Amsterdam that builds compliance review into the content pipeline instead of bolting it on at the end: every brief names the reviewer, every claim carries its source, every published version is stored. That is how we shipped the SEO strategy and site structure for Toyota Motor Finance, and how we write copy that fits brand guidelines and legal frameworks for Palo Alto Networks.

How a fintech SEO engagement runs

How a LASEO fintech SEO engagement runs

Five phases over the first 12 months. Each phase ends with a document your compliance team can sign and a deliverable shipped to your repo, your CMS or your reporting stack.

  • 01

Regulatory and search audit (weeks 1-2)

We map what you are licensed to say before we map what people search. Inventory of licences, disclosures and product terms per market, plus the internal rules your compliance team already applies. In parallel: Screaming Frog crawl, log-file analysis, GSC and GA4 access, SEMrush and Ahrefs exports per database (NL, UK, DE and so on). Output: a claims register per product line and a technical findings list ranked by impact and written as tickets.

  • 02

Keyword map and SERP ownership plan (weeks 2-4)

Every query in fintech sits in one of three buckets: held by comparison sites and affiliates, winnable with a product-category or 'how it works' page, or informational and increasingly answered by AI Overviews. We classify per bucket, per product line and per market. Output: a keyword map tied to URL structure, including the calculator, glossary and explainer pages that give you a claim on queries the affiliates cannot own because they are not the provider.

  • 03

Site architecture and technical fixes (weeks 3-8)

Structure per audience: consumer products, business products, developer docs, investor relations, press. Each gets a home so authority builds where it counts, the same discipline we applied at Toyota Motor Finance. Technical work shipped as Git pull requests: rendering of rate and fee widgets, canonicals on parameter URLs, Organization and FinancialProduct schema, Core Web Vitals per template, and app landing pages that Google and the app stores both understand.

  • 04

Content pipeline with compliance review (months 2-6)

Briefs written by us with a claims list and a source per claim. Compliance reviews the brief, then the draft, then signs the version that goes live. Fintech SEO content writing, by your team or ours, runs only from the approved claims. Authors named, credentials shown, reviewer and date on every page. Content covers product-category pages, 'how it works' explainers, fee pages, glossary entries and the B2B use-case pages that speak to finance teams. Delivered through your CMS with versioning or via pull request.

  • 05

Authority, GEO and attribution dashboard (month 3 onward)

Link plan built on earned coverage: financial press, industry associations, partner integration pages, original data your analysts already produce. No finance blog networks. GEO work makes your product citable in ChatGPT and Perplexity shortlists for 'best X for Y' queries: clear entity signals, structured data, one question answered per page. A Looker Studio dashboard ties organic to applications, funded accounts or pipeline in GA4 and HubSpot, per product line and per market.

02 - How we work

Think of us asthe SEO team that sits between your marketing and your compliance desk.

Your marketing team owns brand, product launches and paid acquisition. Your compliance or legal team owns what a regulated firm may claim. We own the layer in between: the keyword map, the content briefs that go to legal with sources attached, the author and reviewer pages that carry E-E-A-T, the schema (Organization, FinancialProduct, FAQPage), the technical SEO on the marketing site and the app landing pages, and the Looker Studio dashboard that ties organic to applications, funded accounts or booked demos in GA4 or HubSpot. Compliance gets a versioned document to sign, not a Slack message. Engineering gets a Git pull request, not a PDF. Both keep the final say in their own domain.

What a fintech SEO agency actually does

Fintech SEO, explained without the agency fog

SEO for fintech is three problems stacked: Google treats money pages as YMYL and holds them to a higher trust bar, the regulator holds you to a stricter claims bar than any other industry, and comparison sites already hold the head terms. Each problem has an easy wrong answer (publish and hope, disclaim everything, buy links) and a right answer that takes process.

01

YMYL means Google grades finance pages harder

Your Money or Your Life is Google's label for pages that can affect someone's financial wellbeing. Its quality raters are told to apply the highest standard of experience, expertise, authoritativeness and trust to them. In practice: a page on business loans without a named author, a reviewer, sources and a visible licence is competing with a handicap no keyword density can offset. Fintech SEO starts with proving who is speaking.

02

Compliance belongs in the pipeline, not at the end

The slow way is to write, publish, then argue with legal. The faster way is to give compliance the claims before the copy exists. Each brief lists every factual claim (rate, fee, eligibility, protection, processing time) with the source it rests on. Compliance strikes or approves per line. The writer works from the approved list. The published version is stored, so when a rule changes you know exactly which pages carry the old wording.

03

Regulated claims differ per market and per regulator

The AFM and DNB in the Netherlands, the FCA in the UK, BaFin in Germany and EU frameworks such as PSD2 and MiFID II each shape what a product page may promise, how risk must be shown and which comparisons are allowed. We do not interpret the rules for you. We build the keyword map and content plan per market so that each page is reviewed against the regulator it actually falls under, not against a generic global template.

04

Comparison sites hold the head terms, so own the category

'Best savings account', 'business credit card comparison' and most 'X vs Y' queries belong to affiliates and comparison platforms with years of links behind them. A regulated firm rarely wins those with a listicle and often should not publish one. The winnable ground is the product-category page, the 'how it works' explainer, the fee page, the calculator and the glossary: pages where being the actual provider is the advantage, not the handicap.

05

B2B fintech follows B2B SEO logic, plus a claims layer

Payments, lending infrastructure, embedded finance and treasury software sell to finance teams, not consumers. The buyer is a CFO, a head of payments or a developer, researching for weeks across integrations, pricing, security and comparison pages. That is B2B SEO: bottom-of-funnel pages first, pipeline attribution in HubSpot or Salesforce, per-segment reporting. The difference from ordinary B2B is that the same claims rules apply to a treasury product as to a savings account.

06

AI shortlists now decide 'best X for Y' in fintech

ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google's AI Mode increasingly answer 'best payment provider for marketplaces' or 'business account for freelancers' directly, citing a handful of sources. Getting into that handful takes clear entity signals (Organization schema, consistent naming, licence details), pages that answer one question well, original data and third-party mentions. We call this GEO, and it is part of every fintech programme rather than a separate line item.

Why LASEO vs alternatives

Fintech SEO agencies compared honestly

Generalist agencies, content mills, affiliate-style growth shops and in-house hires all have their place, whether you are looking for an insurance SEO agency or a partner for a payments platform. Here is where a senior fintech SEO partner fits and where it does not.

Typical fintech agency

Publishes and hopes

  • Copy goes to legal after it is written, if at all. A 'best credit cards 2026' listicle goes live under a regulated lender's name without anyone in compliance seeing it.
  • Anonymous blog posts, a generic 'editorial team' author, disclaimers stuffed with keywords to bulk up thin pages.
  • Tries to out-listicle the affiliates, loses on links, then reports impressions as progress.
  • Buys placements on finance blog networks and guest-post farms. The damage stays with your domain after the contract ends.
  • Treats a payments platform like a consumer app: top-of-funnel blogs and sign-up counts nobody can trace to revenue.
  • Sessions up, funded accounts flat, and nobody notices until the renewal conversation.
LASEO

Builds compliance into the pipeline

  • Claims listed per brief with sources before writing starts. Compliance reviews the brief and the draft and signs the live version. Versions stored in Git or CMS history.
  • Named authors with credentials, reviewer and date on every page, Person and Organization schema, licence details visible. Sources linked, not implied.
  • Owns product-category, 'how it works', fee, calculator and glossary pages where being the provider is the advantage. Leaves the affiliate SERPs alone.
  • Editorial links from financial press, industry associations, partner integrations and data stories your analysts already produce. Outreach documented per target.
  • Bottom-of-funnel first: integrations, pricing, security and 'X for Y' pages. Pipeline attribution in HubSpot or Salesforce, reported per segment.
  • Looker Studio dashboard tying organic to applications, account openings or pipeline in GA4 and the CRM, per product and per market. Monthly scorecard.

Honest answers about fintech SEO LASEO

What fintech buyers actually ask before signing an SEO retainer.

LASEO senior consultants reviewing a fintech attribution dashboard

Fintech SEO is SEO for products that Google classifies as YMYL and a regulator classifies as regulated: accounts, loans, cards, payments, insurance, investing and the B2B infrastructure behind them. The difference from ordinary SEO is not the keyword research, it is the constraints around it. Every claim has to be supportable and reviewed, authorship has to be visible and credible, and the obvious head terms are already held by comparison sites. A fintech SEO strategy therefore has four parts: a technical foundation (rendering, canonicals, schema, Core Web Vitals, app landing pages), a keyword map that separates winnable product-category and 'how it works' queries from affiliate-held ones, a content pipeline with compliance review built in, and attribution that reports applications or pipeline rather than sessions. Our recommendation: start the claims register and the keyword map together, because one decides what you may say and the other what is worth saying.
