SEMrush agency

Rated #1 SEO agency in The Netherlands by SEMrush

Most automotive SEO is a dealer template with the town name swapped. Inventory that Googlebot cannot crawl. Test drives reported as sessions.

An automotive SEO agency has to work across a stack most agencies never touch: the OEM's global CMS that feeds the importer site, the dealer platform that publishes the same template copy for hundreds of dealers, the inventory feed that turns every filter into a new URL, and the lease calculator that renders in JavaScript where Google reads nothing. We are a senior-only, 100% SEO agency in Amsterdam, rated the number one SEO agency in the Netherlands by SEMrush, with automotive and mobility work for Toyota Motor Finance and WHILL. We build the model pages, location pages and lease pages that carry the searches, fix inventory indexation, and report test drives and quote requests per model, not blended sessions.

How an automotive SEO engagement runs

How a LASEO automotive SEO engagement runs

Five phases over the first 12 months. Each phase ends with a decision document and a deliverable shipped to your platform provider, your repo, your CMS or your reporting stack.

  • 01

Segment and search audit (weeks 1-2)

Which segments carry the searches for your business: new car model queries, used inventory, private and business lease, EV range and charging, service and parts. We pull SEMrush data per database (NL, BE, DE, UK, FR and the rest of your markets), GSC per property, GA4 lead events and the competitor set that actually ranks: the OEM's own site, other dealer groups, lease marketplaces and classifieds portals. Output: a ranked segment list with the pages that need to exist and the ones that need to be fixed.

  • 02

Technical foundation and inventory rules (weeks 2-6)

Screaming Frog crawl and log-file analysis of the full site, including every inventory parameter. We define canonical and noindex rules per filter, sold vehicle handling (redirect, hold or 404 with a reason), Vehicle and Offer schema per listing, an inventory sitemap that follows stock, JavaScript rendering checks on configurators and calculators, and Core Web Vitals per template. Each fix goes out as a Git pull request for your developers or a ticket written in the terms your dealer platform provider accepts.

  • 03

Model, lease and location architecture (weeks 4-10)

One page per model, with the price, lease and range queries mapped to it and the canonical decided against the OEM's global site. Lease and private lease pages per model with a monthly price in the HTML. One location page per showroom and service department with AutoDealer schema and a matching Google Business Profile. For importers running several countries, hreflang per market pair, verified with Merkle's tester and a custom Screaming Frog crawl.

  • 04

Content, EV and link plan (months 2-6)

Content briefs for the pages that decide the shortlist: model comparisons, range and charging guides, subsidy and company car tax explainers per market, fitment pages for parts, service and maintenance pages per location. Written for AI Overviews and ChatGPT citations as much as for the classic SERP: one question per page, original data where you have it, schema on every template. Link targets in automotive media, regional press and partner sites, either run by us or briefed to your team.

  • 05

Lead dashboard per model and location (month 2 onward)

Looker Studio pulling GSC per property, GA4 events for test drives, quote requests, lease requests and service bookings with a model dimension, and CRM data from HubSpot or Salesforce where it exists. The monthly scorecard shows leads per model, per location and per market next to clicks and rank movement. You see which model page compounds and which dealer needs stock, reviews or content, not a blended organic number.

02 - How we work

Think of us asthe search team behind your importer, dealer or lease brand.

Your marketing team owns the brand, the campaigns, the OEM co-op calendar and the relationship with the dealer network. We own the search layer underneath: model page architecture, inventory indexation rules and Vehicle schema, one location page and one Google Business Profile per dealership, lease and finance keyword research per SEMrush database, GSC properties per domain and a Looker Studio dashboard that shows test drives, quote requests and lease requests per model every month. We write the tickets your dealer platform provider can implement, or review the pull requests when your own developers ship them. The split most automotive programmes get wrong: the agency sells a local SEO package and leaves inventory, models and lease pages untouched.

What an automotive SEO agency actually does

Automotive SEO, explained without the agency fog

Automotive SEO is four problems stacked: the platform you do not fully control (OEM CMS, dealer platform, inventory feed), the page types that carry the searches (model, lease, location, VDP), the local layer per showroom (Google Business Profile, reviews, service) and the reporting layer (leads per model or stay blind). Each has a cheap wrong answer and a right answer that is expensive to retrofit.

01

Model pages compete with the OEM's own site

For a query like a make plus model plus price, Google has the OEM's global site, the importer's national site, dozens of dealer pages and the classifieds portals to choose from. An importer or dealer page that mirrors the OEM copy loses. What wins is what the OEM cannot publish: the local price, the lease rate, the stock, the delivery time and the showroom. Canonicals and hreflang decide who gets credit; the local content decides who ranks.

02

Inventory pages are a crawl problem before a content problem

Vehicle detail pages (VDP) and search results pages (SRP) multiply fast: every sort, filter and page parameter is a new URL, and parts catalogues add a fitment facet per make, model and engine. Without canonical and noindex rules, Googlebot spends its budget on filter combinations and misses the listings that sell. Vehicle and Offer schema per listing, an inventory sitemap that follows stock and a rule for sold vehicles are the baseline.

03

Private lease is its own query class in the Netherlands

Dutch drivers search for a model plus private lease, for the cheapest monthly rate and for the difference between private, business, financial and operational lease, and the lease marketplaces rank for most of it. A brand or dealer that wants that traffic needs one lease page per model with the monthly price, term and mileage in the HTML, not a single financing page with a calculator that renders client-side. The UK equivalent is salary sacrifice and company car tax.

04

Automotive local SEO means one profile per location

A dealer group is a set of local businesses that share a brand. Each showroom and service department needs its own Google Business Profile with the right primary category, its own location page with AutoDealer schema, hours and NAP, and a link to the stock that location holds. One locations page listing every address ranks for nothing. Reviews are a ranking and a conversion input, so the process for collecting them belongs in the SEO plan.

05

EV queries are informational first, and AI answers them

Range, charging time, home charging cost, subsidies and company car tax rules are the questions that precede an EV shortlist, and AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity now answer many of them directly. Being cited there takes pages that answer one question well, with the WLTP figures and the charging specs as structured data and original numbers where you have them. Generative engine optimisation is part of every automotive programme we run, not an add-on.

06

OEM compliance and co-op rules shape what you can change

Dealer sites often run on an OEM-approved platform, co-op funding is tied to approved vendors and brand compliance reviews every custom page. An agency that does not know this writes recommendations nobody can implement. We map what the platform lets you edit, phrase every change as a ticket the provider accepts, and escalate through the importer when the template itself is the problem. Progress is measured in a GSC property per dealer domain.

Why LASEO vs alternatives

Automotive SEO companies compared honestly

Dealer website platforms, automotive SEO companies with a package menu, generalist agencies and in-house hires all have a use case. Here is where a senior automotive SEO partner fits and where it does not.

Typical automotive agency

Sells the local package

  • The platform's template copy, identical across hundreds of dealers, with the town name swapped in. Google sees one page repeated.
  • Every filter and sort parameter indexed, sold vehicles left as empty pages or dead 404s, no schema on listings.
  • We cannot touch that, the OEM's provider owns the template. Recommendation parked in a PDF.
  • Citations, a few Google Business Profile posts and a locations page, sold as automotive dealership SEO. Inventory and models ignored.
  • One financing page with a JavaScript calculator. Nothing for the model plus lease or private lease queries.
  • Organic sessions and average position, blended across the whole dealer group. Test drives not in the report.
LASEO

Owns the automotive search layer

  • Unique model, location and service copy per dealer, written from local search data per SEMrush database, inside the fields the platform lets you edit.
  • Canonical and noindex rules per parameter, sold vehicle logic, Vehicle and Offer schema per listing, an inventory sitemap that follows stock, verified in log files.
  • Every change phrased as a ticket in the provider's terms, escalated through the importer when the template is the problem, tracked in a GSC property per dealer domain.
  • One Google Business Profile and one location page per showroom and service department, AutoDealer schema, review process, stock per location linked in.
  • One lease page per model with monthly price, term and mileage in the HTML, researched per market, with server-rendered calculator defaults Google can read.
  • Test drives, quote requests, lease requests and service bookings per model and per location in Looker Studio, from GA4 events and your CRM.

Honest answers about automotive SEO LASEO

What buyers actually ask before signing an automotive SEO retainer.

LASEO senior consultants reviewing model and location dashboards for an automotive client

Automotive SEO is search engine optimisation for the businesses that sell, lease, finance, service or supply vehicles: OEM and importer sites, dealer groups, lease and finance companies, EV and mobility brands, parts and accessories ecommerce, repair networks and marketplaces. The searches are unusually structured: make plus model plus price, lease or range; a location plus service; a part number plus fitment. An automotive SEO agency builds the page types that answer those queries (model pages, lease pages, location pages, vehicle detail pages, fitment pages), keeps the inventory crawlable and marked up with Vehicle schema, and reports leads per model and per location. A generalist agency blogs about car maintenance tips and reports sessions. The difference is structural, which is why we start with the architecture and the platform constraints, not with content volume.
