Most manufacturing SEO is written for marketers, not engineers. Catalogues locked in PDFs. Reported in sessions, never in RFQs.
A manufacturing SEO agency has one job: put your product in front of the engineer or buyer who is specifying it right now. That person does not search for 'innovative industrial solutions'. They type a part number, a DIN or ISO standard, a material grade, a tolerance or an application, and they expect a spec table, a datasheet and a way to request a quote. LASEO is a senior-only, 100% SEO agency in Amsterdam, rated the #1 SEO agency in the Netherlands by SEMrush. We turn your PIM into indexable product pages with Product schema, pull spec sheets out of PDFs, handle distributors without cannibalising your own product terms, and report RFQs in your CRM per export market, not organic sessions.

How a LASEO manufacturing SEO engagement runs
Five phases over the first 12 months. Each phase ends with a decision document and a deliverable shipped to your repo, your PIM backlog or your CRM.
- 01
Catalogue and technical audit (weeks 1-3)
A Screaming Frog crawl of every product, category, filter and PDF URL, cross-checked against a log-file analysis so we know what Googlebot actually fetches. We inventory every datasheet PDF and which ones rank instead of a page, test JavaScript rendering of configurators and search widgets, check canonicals across variant URLs, hreflang across export markets and Core Web Vitals per template. Output: a prioritised ticket list, not a 200-page PDF.
- 02
Spec-driven keyword mapping (weeks 2-5)
We build the keyword map from your PIM export outward: part numbers, product families, standards (ISO, DIN, EN, ASTM), materials, dimensions, certifications and application queries such as 'valve for cryogenic service', per SEMrush database for each export market. Each cluster gets a page type: product, product family, category, application note or selection guide. Distributor and marketplace SERPs are checked so we know which terms you can realistically own.
- 03
Product template and schema rollout (weeks 4-10)
The product template is rewritten to print the PIM fields engineers search for: spec table in HTML, material and standard in the title and H1, Product schema with sku, gtin, material, brand and offers where you sell direct, plus datasheet and CAD links. Index rules for filters and variants are set through canonicals and robots directives. Every change ships as a Git pull request or a ticket your web team can merge, and is re-crawled after deploy.
- 04
Engineer content and lead magnets (months 3-6)
Content briefs for application notes, 'how to select' guides, tolerance and compatibility tables and comparison pages, written from interviews with your product engineers rather than from a blog calendar. Datasheets stay open for indexation; CAD, STEP and BIM files sit behind a short form with a GTM event. Link targets are drawn from trade associations, industry publications and supplier directories in each export market.
- 05
RFQ attribution and reporting (month 2 onward)
GTM events for RFQ forms, quote configurators, datasheet and CAD downloads and distributor-locator clicks, pushed into HubSpot or Salesforce with the landing page, product family and market attached. A Looker Studio dashboard pulls GSC properties per country, GA4 and the CRM, so you see quote requests and pipeline per market and per product family. Monthly scorecard delivered the second working day of each month.

Think of us asthe SEO team between your product data and your sales pipeline.
Your product managers own the catalogue, your engineers own the specs, your sales team owns the quote. We own the search layer that connects them: a Screaming Frog crawl of every SKU and PDF, PIM fields mapped to Product schema, spec tables rendered as HTML, part-number and standards research per SEMrush database, hreflang per export market, a Git pull request for every template change and GTM events that push RFQ submissions and datasheet downloads into HubSpot. Reporting lands in Looker Studio per market and per product family, so the board sees quote requests, not a blended organic line. Your team keeps product truth and pricing. We keep Google reading the catalogue the way an engineer does.
What a manufacturing SEO agency actually does
Manufacturing SEO, explained without the agency fog
Manufacturing SEO is three problems stacked: the catalogue (thousands of SKUs, PIM data, PDFs and filters that Google must read as products), the buyer (engineers and procurement who search by specification over a sales cycle that runs for months) and the channel (distributors, marketplaces and export markets competing for the same terms). Each has a cheap wrong answer and a right answer that is expensive to retrofit.
Engineers search by spec, not by slogan
An engineer specifying a component types the standard, the material, the size or the part number: 'DIN 933 M12 A4', 'IP67 connector 12 pin', 'PTFE hose 3/8 inch'. Procurement types the part number plus 'supplier' or 'price'. Neither types 'innovative industrial solutions'. Your pages must carry those tokens in titles, H1s and spec tables, and your keyword research has to start from the PIM export, not from a generic tool suggestion list.
Your PIM is the SEO database
Every attribute your engineers maintain in the PIM (material, dimensions, standard, certification, operating temperature, GTIN) is a ranking signal when it reaches the HTML and a structured-data property when it reaches Product schema. Most manufacturing templates print a marketing paragraph and hide the attributes in a tab or an image. Map the fields once at template level and thousands of product pages improve in one deploy.
PDFs rank, and that is the problem
Google indexes PDF datasheets, and on many manufacturing sites the PDF outranks the product page because it holds the only real spec content. A PDF has no navigation, no RFQ form and no analytics event. The fix is not to block PDFs but to give the product page the same specs in HTML, link the PDF from it and let canonicals and internal links move the ranking to the page that can convert.
Datasheets open, CAD behind a short form
Datasheets should be free and indexable: they are the content that wins the ranking. CAD, STEP, EPLAN and BIM files are the lead magnet, because an engineer who downloads your model is designing you in. Gate those behind a short form (name, company, email), fire a GTM event and push it into the CRM. Gating the datasheet too kills the ranking that brought the engineer in the first place.
Distributors and channel conflict
Distributors, marketplaces and resellers republish your specs and often outrank you for your own part numbers. Blocking them is not an option; outranking them on brand and product terms is. Own the product family, part number and application pages with richer content than any reseller can copy, hand off stock, delivery and local pricing through a distributor locator, and never syndicate the same product text to every reseller word for word.
Export markets need hreflang and native research
A German engineer searches 'Edelstahlschraube DIN 933', not a translated English phrase, and US buyers use inch sizes, ASTM and UL rather than ISO and CE. Each export market needs research per SEMrush database, a subfolder or ccTLD decision made on data, hreflang verified per market pair and its own GSC property. Canon Medical Systems Europe runs 8 languages in one hreflang cluster on exactly this model.
Why LASEO vs alternatives
Manufacturing SEO agencies compared honestly
Generalist agencies, industrial marketing shops, the web agency that built the site and an in-house marketer all have legitimate use cases. Here is where a senior manufacturing SEO partner fits and where it does not.
Blogs about Industry 4.0
- Head terms like 'industrial pumps' from a keyword tool, plus blog ideas about Industry 4.0 and sustainability. Part numbers and standards never appear.
- The catalogue lives in PDFs and a JavaScript search widget. Product pages carry a marketing paragraph and an image of the spec table.
- Company news, trade show recaps and 'trends in manufacturing' blog posts that no engineer ever searches for.
- Either everything gated behind a twelve-field form, or nothing gated and no idea who downloaded the CAD file.
- Ignored. Distributors outrank the manufacturer for its own part numbers with copy the manufacturer gave them.
- Sessions, rankings and a blended organic line. Sales cannot say which quote came from search.
Owns the catalogue and the RFQ
- Keyword map built from the PIM export outward: part numbers, standards, materials, dimensions and application queries, per SEMrush database for each export market.
- PIM fields mapped to HTML and Product schema at template level, spec tables as crawlable text, explicit index rules for variants and filters, shipped as a Git pull request.
- Application notes, selection guides, compatibility tables and comparison pages, briefed from interviews with your product engineers and mapped to spec clusters.
- Datasheets open and indexable, CAD and STEP files behind a short form with a GTM event that lands in HubSpot with the product family attached.
- Written channel policy: brand, product family and application terms owned by the brand site, stock and local pricing handed off via the distributor locator, syndicated text controlled.
- RFQs, datasheet and CAD downloads and quote requests per export market and product family in Looker Studio, fed by GSC per country, GA4 and the CRM.

Honest answers about manufacturing SEO
What manufacturers actually ask before signing a manufacturing SEO retainer.

No ranking answers that, so judge on criteria. Ask who will actually run the account and whether that person has read a spec table before; a junior with a keyword tool will not find 'DIN 933 M12 A4'. Ask how they handle a catalogue generated from a PIM and listen for template-level answers (fields, schema, index rules) rather than 'we will optimise your product pages'. Ask what they do with PDF datasheets. Ask how they treat distributors that outrank you. And ask how they report: if the answer is sessions and rankings rather than RFQs in your CRM, keep looking. LASEO is senior-only, 100% SEO, rated the #1 SEO agency in the Netherlands by SEMrush with 98% client retention, and honest that we have no dedicated manufacturing case study yet: our manufacturer work is on brand and commerce sites such as Canon Medical, Philips / Signify and Bugaboo.
