SEMrush agency

Rated #1 SEO agency in The Netherlands by SEMrush

Most digital PR is press releases sent to a list. Hoping a junior journalist reposts the angle verbatim. We pitch named reporters directly.

Our digital PR campaigns are designed around one measurable outcome: referring domains gained from sites with DR 70 and above, and the organic traffic uplift that follows on the pages we link to. Every campaign is built on a proprietary data asset, pitched by name to roughly fifty tier-1 and tier-2 journalists on the relevant beat, and tracked link by link for six months after launch.

How a digital PR campaign runs

How a LASEO digital PR campaign runs

Five distinct phases over a 10 to 14 week campaign cycle, each with deliverables you can sign off and reuse. No black box, no proprietary methodology that locks the relationships to us.

  • 01

Backlink audit and competitor PR mapping (weeks 1-2)

We pull your current referring domains via Ahrefs and SEMrush, segment them by editorial vs commercial, and map the same for your three closest organic competitors. Output: a gap report showing 80 to 150 publications that link to a competitor on your topic but not yet to you. This becomes the target universe for the campaign.

  • 02

Story angle ideation against authority gaps (week 3)

We workshop ten to fifteen story angles against the publications most likely to fill your DR gap, score each by newsworthiness and topical relevance to your money pages, and ship three to five angles into a Notion brief with target reporters, target publications and the SEO page each angle would link to. Your team picks the angle to produce.

  • 03

Asset production: data study, statistics page or expert hub (weeks 4-7)

We commission the proprietary survey, pull the internal dataset, or build the expert commentary library. Output: a long-form data study with a clean chart pack for journalists, a statistic landing page on your domain that we want the editorial links pointing at, and a tier-1 pitch deck per target reporter.

  • 04

Named outreach to 40-60 tier-1 and tier-2 reporters (weeks 7-10)

Individually written pitches to named journalists on the right beat, sent from a real consultant inbox, not a tool blast. We sequence three to four touchpoints per reporter using Pitchbox, log every reply in BuzzStream, and pitch reactive angles into HARO and Qwoted in parallel to the planned outreach.

  • 05

Link tracking, reclamation and secondary outreach (weeks 10-14)

We track every published mention via Roxhill and Google Alerts, follow up on unlinked brand mentions to convert them to do-follow citations, and pitch the resulting tier-1 coverage to the next tier of journalists for syndication. Final report: every acquired link with publication, URL, DR, anchor, follow status and GA4 uplift on the linked page.

02 - How we work

Digital PR built forSEO measurement, not press clippings.

We sit between your marketing leadership and your link acquisition targets. Every campaign starts from a referring domain gap analysis against three competitors and ends with a tracked spreadsheet of acquired backlinks: publication, URL, anchor, do-follow status, DR, organic uplift on the linked-to page. The same campaign a traditional PR agency would measure in AVE, we measure in compounding organic revenue.

What digital PR services actually means

Digital PR services, explained without the agency-speak

When you hire digital PR services you are buying editorial-grade asset production, named journalist outreach and SEO outcome measurement. Different from traditional PR (which reports on coverage and awareness), different from generic link building (which buys placements on low-quality blogs). The model is editorial newsroom pitching with SEO as the success metric.

01

Digital PR vs traditional PR

Traditional PR reports on AVE, share of voice and earned media value. Digital PR reports on referring domains, DR distribution, do-follow ratio and the organic traffic delta on linked-to pages. Same craft of pitching journalists, different measurement contract. A campaign that wins a Volkskrant placement is a success in both worlds; only digital PR will tell you the placement was no-follow and quietly retire the page from the success report.

02

Digital PR vs generic link building

Generic link building buys guest posts on DR 15-30 blogs at 250-500 EUR per placement. Digital PR earns editorial links on DR 70-90 newsrooms at zero direct link cost, with the budget spent on the asset and the outreach instead. The total cost per acquired link is similar in the high end of digital PR, but the link quality and topical authority transfer is incomparable.

03

Data study vs reactive PR vs expert commentary

Three distinct campaign types. Data studies build a defendable asset that earns sustained pickups for 6-18 months. Reactive PR pitches your spokespeople into ongoing news cycles via HARO, Qwoted and Connectively for quick wins. Expert commentary builds a library of pre-approved quotes on three to five core topics, used to seed unsolicited pitches against breaking news. Mature programmes run all three in parallel.

04

Do-follow vs no-follow links

Do-follow links pass ranking signal more directly, no-follow links are increasingly treated as ranking signals too as Google has confirmed they consider rel attributes as hints rather than directives. A no-follow link from BBC, Bloomberg or NRC still moves rankings via brand-association signals, drives referral traffic, and gets quoted by smaller do-follow publications. We track both and weight DR over follow attribute when valuing a placement.

05

Editorial vs sponsored vs paid placement

Editorial means a journalist read your pitch, decided the angle was worth covering, and linked because the story warranted it. Sponsored or paid placements mean money changed hands; even if a placement looks editorial it is a paid link in Google's eyes and carries the risk. We only run editorial outreach and explicitly flag any campaign where a publication asks for payment so you can decide whether to walk.

06

Realistic digital PR pricing

Single-campaign digital PR (one data study, six to ten week timeline, twelve to twenty links targeted) runs EUR 8,000 to EUR 25,000 in Europe depending on scope, language coverage and asset complexity. Retainer programmes with three to four campaigns per year plus continuous reactive PR run EUR 5,000 to EUR 12,000 per month. Anyone selling tier-1 digital PR for under EUR 3,000 per campaign is selling press release distribution.

Why LASEO vs alternatives

Digital PR services compared honestly

Traditional PR agencies, generic link building shops and in-house comms teams all have legitimate use cases. Here is where LASEO fits and where it does not.

Traditional PR agency

Coverage-focused, no SEO measurement

  • Coverage volume, AVE, share of voice, sentiment analysis. Sometimes a screenshot deck at end of campaign.
  • Press release, executive interview transcript, occasional infographic. Recycled industry stats with no proprietary data.
  • Press release sent to a Cision list of 5,000 contacts. Press@ addresses. Generic blast.
  • Reactive opportunities reviewed in the weekly sync. Many missed because the news cycle moved on.
  • Coverage tracked in a Google Doc. Follow status not recorded. No GA4 attribution to linked-to pages.
  • Journalist contacts locked inside the agency's CRM. If you leave, you lose the relationships and the history.
LASEO

SEO-led measurement, editorial outreach

  • Referring domains gained, DR distribution, do-follow ratio, anchor diversity, organic traffic delta on the linked-to pages over 30 days post-publication.
  • Commissioned survey of 1,000 to 2,500 respondents, proprietary dataset analysis, or year-on-year first-party data. A reporter has a reason to cite it.
  • Individually written pitch to 50 to 80 named reporters on the right beat, sent from a real consultant inbox. Three to four touchpoints, logged in BuzzStream.
  • HARO, Qwoted, Connectively and ResponseSource monitored daily. Pitches sent inside 90 minutes during business hours with pre-approved commentary.
  • Every acquired link logged with DR, anchor, follow status, GA4 traffic uplift on the linked page. Monthly report ties links to organic revenue impact.
  • BuzzStream history, journalist list and outreach playbook handed over in editable format at engagement end. The relationships are yours to keep.

What our digital PR clients say

Digital PR in their own words

Their data study earned us coverage in Volkskrant, FD and NRC inside six weeks. The FD piece alone drove 38 referring domains through syndication. Our previous PR agency had spent two years promising one of those publications.
Joris Bakker
Head of Marketing · Recharge Capital
We had three traditional PR retainers before this. They sent screenshots, LASEO sends a spreadsheet with DR, anchor and GA4 uplift per link. The Forbes pickup added 11 percent organic traffic to the page they linked to within a month.
Anna Petersen
VP Growth · Northwood Cloud
The reactive PR cadence is what made this work. They placed our CEO in TechCrunch, The Verge and Bloomberg inside one quarter just from HARO and Qwoted queries we would never have noticed in-house.

Honest answers about digital PR services LASEO

What buyers actually ask before signing a digital PR retainer or single-campaign engagement.

LASEO digital PR consultants reviewing a tier-1 journalist target list

Traditional PR is built around earned coverage and awareness, reported via AVE, share of voice and sentiment. Digital PR is built around editorial backlinks that move organic search rankings, reported via referring domains gained, DR distribution, do-follow ratio, and the organic traffic delta on the pages those links point at. The craft of pitching journalists is identical. The measurement contract is different. If a Bloomberg placement is no-follow, traditional PR calls it a win and a digital PR programme weights it against the DR and the brand-association signal it still creates. Most agencies that say they offer digital PR services are running a traditional PR playbook with a link tracking spreadsheet added at the end.
